A snake that got entangled in an electric post caught the attention of motorists and residents in Barangay San Miguel, Calasiao, Pangasinan.

The snake's presence made the residents anxious.

"Parang kumain siya diyan sa may puno tapos pagka akyat sa taas, naligaw na lang tapos nakuryente sa bunganga [at] nanghina [pero] buhay pa," A witness named "Dale" said.

Authorities responded swiftly to retrieve the snake, noticing injuries on its body.

The snake was handed over to the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO).

There are several reasons why snakes emerge from their habitats, such as feeding season or disturbance, according to Mark Paolo Caspillan, Calasiao Municipal Environment and Natural Resources (MENR) Officer.

“Isang reason: feeding season [at] kapag gutom [ay] lumalabas talaga [sila] o kapag nadi-disturb 'yung kanilang lungga," he said.

Climate change and warm weather may also affect their behavior.

Authorities advised the public not to handle endangered species or wild animals without proper training.

"Kapag endangered species o ganyang klaseng wild animals na nakikita, huwag natin silang basta-basta hawakan o i-handle lalo [na] kapag hindi naman tayo trained o marunog. Huwag papatayin [ang mga ito], tumawag sila o humingi ng tulong sa barangay o opisina," Caspillan added.
