A motorcycle driver and his passenger crashed into a tree in Batangas and got run over by a speeding white car, which resulted in their deaths.

The car driver fled the scene.

The victims were identified as Mark Vincent Maralit, 28, and Raven Javier, 26, both residents of Barangay Talaibon, Ibaan, Batangas.

The victims sustained severe head injuries and died on site.

According to the police, the victims drove at high speed and did not wear helmets.

CCTV footage showed the motorcycle veering suddenly into the opposite lane and crashing into the tree. The impact threw the riders off the motorcycle onto the road.

Moments later, a speeding white car arrived and ran over the victims.

Devastated, the Maralit family urged the car driver to surrender.

The Javier family also appealed to the car driver to surrender but declined to provide a statement.

Authorities are tracing the whereabouts of the car driver, as of this writing.

The police reminded motorists to be cautious and wear protective gear, especially helmets.

Julius Ocampo, Deputy Chief of the Ibaan Police Station, said.
