Some 87 tons of garbage were collected by the Iloilo City Government at the downtown area after the “Dinagyang Festival 2024” celebration.

In an interview by GMA Super Radyo DYSI with Engr. Neil Ravena, head of the City  Environment and Natural Resources Office and is also officer-in-charge of the General Services Office and Beautification Division, 17 trucks collected the tons of garbage at the downtown area.

Engr. Ravena said that three water tankers were utilized for the flushing at the downtown area. 

He added that CENRO will provide more portalets in the next staging of the Dinagyang Festival as the number had not accommodated the throng of visitors this year. 

“Linibo ka tawo ang ara sa downtown. We only have 85 portalets,” Ravena pointed out.

CENRO, he added, apprehended quite a number of individuals seen to have urinated even in conspicuous places in the city.

His offices are also set to restore flowering plants and hedges at Sunburst Park in Ledesma Street believed trampled upon by some spectators.
