A 36-year-old American citizen died after his motorcycle collided with a double-decker truck on the Amelda Highway in Barangay Concepcion Grande, Naga City, Camarines Sur.

According to the police, the motorcycle, heading back to Laguna, first hit a road barrier then swerved into the truck's lane.

"Eksaktong pag-abot digdi sa may may part kan crossin kan Sol street saka kan Almeda highway, ining naka motorsiklo na Amerikano, nagbangga duman sa road barrier and pagbangga niya duman nag-swerve, pawala nag-encroach duman sa linya kaitong truck," PSMS. Tobias Bongon, spokesperson for the Naga City Police Office (NCPO), said.

The rider was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. He had with him an international driver’s license. 

The lower part of the truck sustained significant damage because of the impact.

"Paggising ko po parang merong tumunog na lagatak tapos sabi nila, '...hindi nag-iingat kasi,' so pagbaba ko po, meron pong tao sa ilalim [ng truck]," Justine Dave Abella, a passenger of the truck, said.

As of this writing, authorities have yet to determine if the rider was under the influence of alcohol. 

The truck driver was placed under police custody.
