All three passengers of a motorcycle died after they collided with a van in Barangay Ortiz, Naguilian, La Union.

The victims, identified as Graymark Carpio, Rogen Bicera, and Alyson Madayag, were declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

The airbag of the van reportedly deployed, which blocked the driver’s vision, which was why he did not notice the motorcycle. 

"Malakas, pumutok ‘yung airbag ng van tapos malakas, hindi niya napansin [yung motor], tumatakbo siya sa linya niya [at] bigla na lang sumalpok ‘yung motor," PCMS Raymond Laron of Naguilian Police Station, said.

The victims were on their way home to Bauang from a birthday celebration when the accident occurred.

The driver of the van has provided financial assistance to the families of the victims.

As a precaution, the police will restrict motorcycles from using the inner lane on national highways.

"Hinuhuli naman dito ‘yung mga dumadaan sa inner lane," Laron said.
