A barangay tanod has tested positive for illegal drugs during a surprise test for barangay officials and employees of Barangay San Francisco, Naga City, Camarines Sur.
The tanod has been placed under suspension while awaiting the result of a confirmatory test.
Barangay Captain Efren Nepomuceno said the tanod seems to have succumbed to peer pressure.
"Garo natentaran po daa siya ta naalok siya kan saiyang mga barkada, so dae mo nyako inisip na saro ka sa mga awtoridad kan barangay, tanod ka dapat dae ka naimbwelto sa mga siring [na bagay]," Barangay Captain Efren Nepomuceno said.
The barangay council is concerned about the impact of the drug test result to the community's trust in local officials.
Incidentally, the barangay has been declared cleared of illegal drugs by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
