A 23-year-old man sustained serious injury on the head and on other parts of his body when his car collided with a passenger jeepney. He died two hours later at the hospital.

The accident happened along Benigno Aquino Avenue, Mandurriao, Iloilo City at past 4 a.m. on February 4, 2024. The man expired at the hospital at past 6 a.m.

According to the Mandurriao Police, the jeepney was traveling from Infante flyover while the car was moving from the opposite lane. 

Witnesses said the car was moving speedily and hit the jeepney. The impact was described by traffic investigators to be strong because about half of the car was in total wreck that pinned the driver. 

The jeepney driver also sustained wounds on the head and on the ft. He was taken into police custody. However, charges might not be filed anymore as he was found to be occupying the right lane when the incident happened.  

“Nagkasalubong lang sila. Base kasi sa witness, ang kotse (ang) mabilis talaga ang takbo. Dahil naman sa impact, na-crumple nga ang kotse ất naipit ang driver,” Master Sergeant Carl Petalco, traffic investigator of the Mandurrioa Police Station, said.
