The Philippine Coast Guard rescued a missing fisherman in the waters off Isabela City, Basilan on Monday, February 5, 2024.

Members of the Coast Guard Station Isabela launched a search and rescue operation after receiving a report that a fisherman went missing after fishing in the vicinity waters off Panigayan, Malamawi in Isabela City.

Authorities sighted the fisherman and his motorbanca in the waters between Lampinigan Island and Panigayan, Malamawi.

The fisherman identified as Resal Edgar, 23, said his motorbanca was hit by another motorbanca while fishing, which damaged his fishing boat’s maneuverability.

The search and rescue team brought the fisherman to the Coast Guard Sub-Station Malamawi for further health assessment and damage verification.
