Around 41,000 board feet of illegally cut century-old trees with an estimated value of P2.5 million were recovered in a mountainous area of Barangay Duale, Limay, Bataan.

The operation was led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and Limay Philippine National Police (PNP).

The logs were left abandoned so no one was arrested at the site.

The recovery of the logs marked another stride in DENR’s campaign against illegal logging in the region.

Presidential Decree No. 705 or the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines regulates logging activities and imposes penalties for illegal logging such as fines, imprisonment, or both.
