Prank gone wrong.
It is only in Bogo City in northern Cebu Province that a "white lady" turned pale for fear at residents who staved off a prank supposedly for a video based on various video uploads in social media platforms.
Residents in Barangay Anonang Sur reported of pranksters who caused trouble to passersby and motorists in the area.
A teenager was found to have portrayed the role of a “white lady” flapping with her white shroud by the roadside to scare people supposedly, while two male adults and two male minors lit candles by the roadside as they pretended to be "elements of the dark" in Purok Uno, Sitio Arapal.
The pranksters replicated a horror video purportedly for fun. But residents who earlier passed by the area reported the incident to the barangay expressing disgust at the pranksters.
Barangay officials shared in the sentiment saying that the act was highly inappropriate and extremely dangerous as it is staged in an identified accident-prone area, and that it could incite people to inflict harm on the pranksters in retaliation, or it could scare people to death, literally.
The pranksters explained the act was carried out for group fun and that they did not mean harm to anybody. However, the alibi did not sit well with the barangay council. The pranskers were directed to render community service for a week by cleaning up the barangay from garbage.
The two adult male members of the group identified as Arvin Gonzaga and John Paul Cabarles apologized to the public for the trouble they caused and vowed not to do the act again.
The apology was recorded on video and posted on the official social media account of Barangay Anonang Sur. Barangay Chairman Jenelyn Tabaco said should the pranksters repeat the act, they will be detained.
Their parents were also summoned by the barangay.
