Three were wounded in a smash-up of five vehicles along Osmeña Boulevard, Cebu City at past noontime of February 8, 2024. 

The multiple-vehicle accident created a one-hour traffic jam in the said city thoroughfare. 

A white sports utility vehicle (SUV) heading downtown was the first reportedly to ram onto a public utility jeepney (PUJ) bearing “06B” route that was traveling from the opposite direction. The impact plowed a motorcycle with two persons onboard. The motorcycle then hit a PUJ marked “O6C” that was moving from the opposite direction.

The SUV hit  another white SUV which, again, was coming from the opposite direction.

The motorcycle rider and the person riding pillion were rushed to a medical facility, while the passenger onboard the SUV that first hit a PUJ was also reported wounded.

In an interview, the driver of the SUV, that first hit a PUJ, said he lost control of the vehicle and was panic-stricken.

The drivers of the PUJs were identified as Renante Sumayang (06B) and Jonel Sabredo (06C), while Alex Precillas drove the other white SUV.

Police Master Sergeant Arnelo Limalima of the Cebu City Police Office’s Traffic Enforcement Unit said that the condition of the two victims taken to the hospital is being monitored.
