The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has opened an investigation into a motorist in Daet, Camarines Norte presenting a so-called “Drinking License” instead of a legitimate driver’s license at a checkpoint.

The motorist said the “Drinking License” was meant to be a joke but the LTO did not take the incident lightly, saying the same might be a case of tampering or fake license.

“It might be a case of tampering or fake license, so ‘yun po, kaya pagpapaliwanagin po natin ‘yung may hawak niyan kasi ‘wag namang gawing katawa-tawa or joking matter ang lisensya ng Land Transportation Office," Francisco Ranches Jr., the Regional Director of LTO Bicol, said.

The agency issued a warning to the motorist and directed LTO-Daet to prepare a report for the issuance of a show-cause order for a formal investigation.

Meanwhile, LTO Bicol has intensified efforts to identify individuals involved in the creation and use of fake LTO licenses and documents in Camarines Norte. It also warned the public against those who offer fake licenses or registrations.
