A policeman and an alleged member of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) were arrested in an entrapment operation for allegedly selling firearms in Cotabato City.

Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (CIDG-BAR) arrested the policeman assigned at the Mother Kabuntalan Municipal Police Station in Cotabato City and MILF member identified as alias “Darwin”.

Recovered during the operation were two R4 Carbine, 9mm pistol, ammunition, and the suspects’ vehicle.

The CIDG-BAR said they have been monitoring the activities of the suspects for several months.

Police added that the arrest of the two would help trace others involved in the illegal trade of firearms.

“Considering nung nahuli sila, may devices na nakuha sa kanila, electronic devices at cellphones. So with that, kapag makakuha lang tayo ng court order, malalaman na natin up to what extent ang link nila or transactions,” Huesca added.

The suspects are facing charges for illegal possession of firearms with the cop facing the possibility of dismissal from service.
