Residents in Barangay Eastern Poblacion, Poro town, Camotes Island, northern Cebu woke up to the siren of responding firetrucks dawn of February 13, 2024.

A huge fire engulfed a commercial building which left about P7 million in damages, according to fire investigators.

The fire broke out at past 1 a.m and was later raised to third alarm. In a video recorded by netizen Joseph Costas, firefighters battled it out with the blaze.

The commercial building housed stalls such as a flower shop, a cellphone store, a school supplies store, and “sari-sari” (variety) stores that were all razed to the ground.

Other establishments adjacent to the building were also gutted such as a water refilling station, a boarding house, and office spaces.

As of this writing, the firemen are still to determine the cause of the fire.
