Two suspects allegedly involved in the attempt on the life of a medical doctor in Buluan, Maguindanao del Sur have surrendered to authorities.

The Buluan Municipal Police Station facilitated the surrender of the two suspects in collaboration with the town mayor and the suspects’ families.

Police did not disclose the names of the suspects.

Dr. Sharmaine Ceballos Barroquillo was shot while on her way to Sultan Kudarat Provincial Hospital from Davao last February 3, 2024.

Three men allegedly shot her three times, hitting her shoulder and lower back that penetrated her spinal cord.

The doctor is still recuperating at the hospital, as of this writing.

The Maguindanao del Sur Police Provincial Office said one of the suspects sought refuge in Poblacion, Buluan while the other in Pandag town after the incident.

Operatives are hunting down the third suspect who was allegedly involved in various robbery-murder incidents in the nearby towns.

Police are now preparing the charges to be filed against the suspects.

“We assure the public that the Buluan MPS, in conjunction with the Special Investigation Task Force, is committed to resolving this case swiftly and bringing all perpetrators to justice,” Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR) Director, Brigadier General Allan Nobleza, said.
