A 15-year-old boy died in a dawn fire in Barangay Blumentritt, Murcia town, Province of Negros Occidental on February 17, 2024.

According to the grandfather, the boy was able to get out of the house but went back inside. He was believed to have come back for an important item. However, the toxic fumes could have reportedly suffocated him.

Three houses were destroyed while one was damaged partially.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection in Murcia, the fire started at a house owned by a family with "Fernandez" for a surname.

Fire-out was declared at past 3 a.m.

The boy’s body was found inside the house's comfort room.

In an initial investigation, it was learned that the fire started near the house’s front door.

The fire left damages worth P300,000. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, as of this writing.

"Ginising naman ito nang naramdaman ng pamilya na may sunog. Nakalabas naman sila. Kaya lang bumalik siya sa loob sabi ng kanyang lolo. Baka raw may kinuha siya sa loob. Nadatnan na namin siya sa banyo,” FO2 Reymar Banaglorioso, investigator of Murcia Fire Station, said.
