Six days after 31-year-old Janiclear Cahilig was found dead and dumped at the roadside in Binangonan, Rizal her remains arrived home in Barangay Minoyan, Murcia town, Negros Occidental.

Her father said the family mourns the loss of a breadwinner, someone who sent her sibling to school.

“Masakit lang na pagbalik nya, wala na syang buhay. Malaki ang naitutulong ng anak ko sa amin. Siya lang ang nag-aasikaso na makapag-aral sa college ang kapatid nya,” Juanito Cahilig Jr., the father, said.

Janiclear’s aunts lament on the way the woman had suffered from the cruelty of her former live-in partner and father to her two children, identified as Roseller “RJ” Lanon.

RJ has already admitted to hitting Janiclear on the head with a glass bottle and strangling her to death in a fit of jealousy. RJ said he is jealous of Janiclear’s co-worker. The two were not in co-habitation anymore, but they have two children.

"Ang ama dapat ipinagtatanggol ang kanyang asawa. Siya pa itong kumuha sa buhay niya (Janiclear) dahil sa selos,” Vivincia Cahilig, an aunt, said.

Another aunt, Rosalinda Cahilig, expressed rage over the tragic incident upon learning that RJ purportedly got irate when Janiclear refused a reconciliation. RJ, in an earlier report, attempted to win Janiclear back.

"Kung pwede lang sana na hindi lang pagkakakulong, na ganyan lang kasi buhay ang kinuha nya,” Rosalinda said.

Rosalinda stressed that it is hard to forgive the suspect.

“Hindi talaga Ang Maykapal lang ang makakapagpatawad. Ako, hindi talaga,” Rosalinda expressed.

It was further learned that the Local Government of Murcia has already extended assistance to the family of Janiclear.
