A 12-year-old boy in Castilla, Sorsogon has been taken into government custody as police opened an investigation into how he was able to bring a gun to school.
A gunshot heard during class hours disrupted classes as students panicked, although no one was injured in the incident.
According to the police report, the student accidentally fired the gun inside the classroom. The bullet hit the floor.
Authorities recovered a caliber .45 pistol loaded with five bullets, along with an extra round, from the student.
The boy was placed under the custody of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office.
The police are investigating where and how the minor acquired the gun.
Police reminded parents to always check on their children.
"I-advise po natin yung ating mga magulang na i-check po yung kanilang mga anak, mas okay po na i-check yung mga gamit nila lalo po pag papasok sa school para po'y maiwasan na sila po ay makapagdala ng mga hindi po magandang dalhin sa eskwelahan," PMAJ. John Angelo Romeroso, Chief of Police in Castilla, Sorsogon, said.
