Two people were killed while one other was injured when a motorcycle slammed into a three-wheel vehicle in Libungan, Cotabato.

Meanwhile, two participants of a motorcycle challenge died while three others were injured in La Union and Pangasinan.

In Cotabato, a couple was traversing the national highway in Libungan on board their three-wheel vehicle on February 24, 2024. Another motorist, driving solo on a motorcycle, was traveling behind them.

All of a sudden, the motorcycle crashed into the couple’s vehicle. The impact threw the driver off the vehicle onto the road while his wife sustained major injuries, which led to her death.

The motorcycle rider also died after he was thrown off his vehicle and hit his head on the road.

The motorcycle rider was reportedly taking part in a drag race that authorities said did not have a permit.

The local government said it will strengthen measures to prevent a similar incident in the future.

Prior to the incident, the LGU met with the police and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) to put up more checkpoints in the town.

In  San Juan, La Union, a rider died when the motorcycle he was driving slammed into another participant of a motorcycle challenge.

The incident happened on the national highway in Barangay Urbiztondo.

According to the police, the two riders were coming from opposite directions.

In Dagupan City in Pangasinan, another rider participating also in the motorcycle challenge died when he slammed into a big bike of another participant on the Mc Arthur Highway in Barangay Bonuan Boquig.

After the clash, the rider of the big bike reportedly lost control of the vehicle and hit another participant. The two sustained injuries.

According to the police, organizers of the events in La Union and Pangasinan have assured help to the families of the victims.
