At least seven houses at a relocation site in Barangay Sabang, Naga City were affected by a late night fire on February 25, 2024.

The fire reached the third alarm before authorities declared fire out at 10:50 p.m.

Damage was pegged at P1.9 million.

Three out of the seven houses were damaged partially.

As of this writing, the Naga City Central Fire Station is still investigating the cause of the fire.

"Proximate kasi itong dalawang wall, which is ‘yung dalawa, gumagamit sila ng wooden pale stove. Kaya pag-aralan muna natin base sa fire pattern at siyempre with the cooperation din ng ating mga witness," SFO1 Anthony Mahinay, the investigator-on-case, said.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) urged the public to utilize the BFP’s hotline before posting on social media, especially during emergencies, to ensure swift response and action from authorities.

Barangay Captain Cyrus Caballero said they have been conducting campaigns against fire hazards.

"Pirmi man kami digding nagkakampanya laban sa arog kaining kasulo. Dae mi lang [maaraman] ta nagkaigwang kasulo, dahil siguro nagluluto or ang ilaw ninda gasera," Caballero said.

Joseph Paredes, 29, who was at work at the time of the incident, could only be thankful that his grandmother and nephews were rescued despite them having lost all their belongings.

"Makulog sa buot ta pinagalan man maghanap trabaho, makabakal lang ning gamit. Tapos arog kaini ang mangyayari, masusulo bigla. Dae inaasahan. Kaya makulog sa buot, sobra," Paredes said.
