A policeman died after allegedly shooting himself accidentally in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental evening on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.

The policeman was identified as Chief Master Sergeant Marlon Valdesco, resident of Quezon, Bukidnon and was assigned in Barangay Binakalan, Gingoog City as team leader of the Revitalized-Police Sa Barangay (R-PSB) under the 1001st Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RFMB).

Valdesco accidentally fired his issued gun, hitting his left thigh and vital organ.

He was taken to the hospital by his team members but he didn’t reach the hospital alive.

The Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) vowed to provide necessary support and financial assistance to the bereaved family.

“PRO 10 mourns the untimely passing of PCMS Marlon D Valdesco of 1001st Maneuver Company, RMFB 10, R-PSB Team Leader at Brgy. Binakalan, Samay, Gingoog City. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family during this difficult times. Rest assured, that they’ll received all the support and financial assistance needed as they navigate this painful journey,” the PRO-10 said.
