An alleged member of the Dawlah Islamiya-Maute Group (DI-MG) who was among those encountered by government soldiers in Munai, Lanao del Norte has turned himself in to the police.

The Lanao del Norte Police Provincial Office and 2nd Mechanized Brigade of the Philippine Army welcomed alias “Ekrima”, who surrendered before the Office of Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte Mayor Rommel Arnado.

Ekrima also turned over his M16 rifle.

The suspect, who is a member of the DI-MG group based in the upland portion of Lanao del Sur, reportedly admitted that his group was among those encountered by the military that killed six soldiers and three suspected members of the DI-MG last February 19, 2024.

Ekrima was also wounded in the said encounter.

“Kining maong nag-surrender is wounded kini siya apan nakalayas kini siya. Didto siya nasamdan sa encounter,” Police Regional Office-10 Spokesperson, Major Joann Navarro, said.
