Two persons were arrested in Carcar City, Cebu Province for alleged rape of a 17-year-old Grade-12 student reportedly at the bank premises where the suspects work.

According to Police Lt. Col. Bryan 'Oneil Salvacion, chief of Carcar City Police Station, the suspects committed the act at the back of the bank building in Poblacion 3 at around 2 a.m. of March 1, 2024.

In a hot-pursuit operation, the suspects were arrested at past 6 a.m. in Barangay Bolinawan.

The victim, a resident of Barangay Liburon, works reportedly as part-time disc jockey at a local FM station.

Salvacion said that the victim was at the area as her boyfriend also works in the same bank. As bank personnel were engaged in an event prior to the incident, the victim stayed at the back of the building while waiting for her boyfriend to get off from work. 

The victim said that the two bank employees approached her, covered her mouth, and proceeded to rape her. She said that the two smelled of liquor. 

The suspects were identified as a 28-year-old bank supervisor and a 24-year-old bank account officer, according to a report by the Carcar City Police Station.

The 28-year-old suspect has a live-in partner, and is a resident of Barangay Agus, Lapu-Lapu City but lives in Kaipilan Poblacion 1, Carcar City, while the 24-year-old suspect is said to be single and a resident of Bolinawan.

The victim's boyfriend learned of the incident later and assisted the girl to the police station.

The suspects are now in the custody of the Carcar City Police.

Charges for rape in relation to Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act will be filed against the suspects.
