The Cagayan de Oro City government is implementing “No segregation, No collection policy” of wastes starting Friday, March 1, 2024.

City Local Environment and Natural Resources (CLENRO) Department Manager, Engineer Armen Cuenca, said wastes and garbage must be segregated first before collection.

Cuenca emphasized that the policy will be strictly implemented in accordance with the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 and City Ordinance No. 13378-2018.

CLENRO officials have already met with the different barangay officials to explain the importance of solid waste management in their respective barangays.

Cuenca added that the local government has long been coordinating with the different barangays on “waste segregation at source” and garbage collection.

He added that if the policy will not be strictly implemented, it will be difficult to prevent the engineered sanitary landfill in Barangay Pagalungan from getting full rapidly.
