Law enforcement personnel uncovered four marijuana plantation sites in Sawangan, Barangay Danac, Sugpon, Ilocos Sur.

The plantations, spanning 2,600 square meters, were found to have approximately 11,000 fully grown marijuana plants, with an estimated market value of P2,180,000.

According to Sugpon PNP, one cultivator managed to escape, but authorities were able to identify the individual.

“Walang nauulit na tinatamnan... ang nag-identify [sa cultivator] is ‘yung asset namin. Nakilala niya kasi nakatakbo ito [at] nakita niya dun sa area noong unang site," PCPT. Sonny Cabbat, Officer-in-Charge of Sugpon Police Station, said.

In addition to the discovery in Sugpon, authorities found three more plantation sites in the mountainous area of Mount Bato, near the disputed boundary of Ilocos Sur and Benguet.

Authorities set ablaze the marijuana plants found in the plantations, destroying an estimated value of over P4 million.
