A fire broke out in Zone 1, Barangay Old Airport, Mandurriao district in Iloilo City in the morning of March 5, 2024.

The fire at 7:40 a.m. displaced reportedly at least 100 families or 423 individuals. A fire-out was declared at past 9 a.m.

According to the Iloilo City Operations Center, 55 houses were destroyed and 48 were damaged partially.

Affected residents sought shelter at Mandurriao Elementary School where they were provided with initial assistance by personnel of the City Social Welfare Office.

Another fire broke out at about the same time in Barangay San Jose, San Miguel town in Iloilo Province. Only one house was destroyed.

As of posting time, damages to the two fire incidents and the respective causes are yet to be determined.
