A retired policeman figured in an accident at the Cebu South Coastal Road (CSCR) in Barangay Dumlog, Talisay City while he was reportedly avoiding potholes.

The 61-year-old retired cop was attended to by responders from the City of Talisay Traffic Operations Development Authority (CT-TODA) and the Talisay City Emergency Team.

In an initial investigation by CT-TODA the motorist was from northern Cebu and was bound for southern Cebu when the incident happened at around 6 a.m. on March 7, 2024.

The retired policeman was injured but he is already out of danger, according to Police Patrolman Alexis Vincent Gainsan, traffic investigator of the Talisay City Police Station.

On the same date, a man on board a bicycle on the national highway in Barangay Pakigne, Minglanilla (town adjacent to Talisay City) was hit reportedly by a motorcycle rider.

Report had it that both were heading toward the north direction but the biker reportedly changed lane and was hit by the motorcycle rider who also attempted to overtake.

The victim was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead there.

It was further learned that their respective families agreed to a settlement.
