A helicopter made an emergency landing in Guindulman town, Province of Bohol.

The incident happened at 11:30 a.m. on May 7, 2024 in Sitio Sta. Lucia, Barangay Trinidad.

According to residents, they noticed immediately that something was wrong with the chopper with the way it had tilted while in flight for a long time.

The helicopter landed on an open field. The pilot and the two passengers were unscathed.

The pilot went to check on what could have caused the problem. He then found a nylon cord wound around the rotor.

It was later learned that the cord was a kite string. The kite was flown reportedly at about 2,000 feet.

“Nakita jud nako nga gatakilid, pagtugpa nanagan mga tawo, nanagan na ngadto. Matud sa foreigner, kadungog ko ga-istorya siya 2,000 feet ang gihabugon sa ilang lupad. Buot pasabot ang tabanog ingon adto pud kahabog kay na-sa[la]y man ang sabad,” Andrew Bayhon Lacar, a resident who was able to take videos and photographs of the incident, narrated.

It took reportedly 30 minutes to disentangle the cord. While the pilot was preoccupied with the untangling, residents milled around the helicopter to take photos with the chopper for a backdrop.
