Chaos ensued at the public market of Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan when a snake appeared in the ceiling of one of the stalls.
Rucel Mayrina, the stall owner, said she was fiddling with her phone when someone called her attention about the snake. When she looked up, the animal was on the verge of falling from the ceiling.
With the help of other vendors, Mayrina said they pulled the snake down and turned it over to authorities later.
The snake measured about three meters long and weighed around five kilos.
"Hinila ko at saka namin hinuli," Mayrina said.
According to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), snakes tend to leave their habitats during hot weather.
The agency also noted that snakes can become more aggressive during the breeding season.
In light of the incident, DENR advised that if people encounter snakes, they should refrain from killing them unless there is a perceived threat to safety.
