An intelligence officer assigned at the Carmen Municipal Police Station in North Cotabato was shot dead in Barangay Sinawal, General Santos City.

Police identified the victim as Corporal Ricky Gomez.

Investigators said the victim went to his parents’ house in Kidapawan city and was on his way back to the Police Regional Office-12 headquarters on board his motorcycle for his mandatory schooling when unidentified gunman fired shots at him upon reaching the place of incident.

“Nag-back track pa ta bandang Polomolok kay wala may cctv sa diversion road so nakita nato iyang living body nga nakasakay siya sa iyang motor. Naay nakaaligid nga nakasakyanan, nakabuntot sa iyaha pero subject for validation pa to,” General Santos City Police Office Director, Col. Nicomedes Olaivar, said.

Recovered from the crime scene were 10 empty shells of caliber 5.56mm pistol.

Authorities have already identified persons of interest and eyed work-related as possible motive.

“Nakahibalo ta nga sa grupo gyud n inga sindikato nga nakabangga niya sa North Cotabato so ang pagkahitabo ani job-related. Lisod gyud iyang trabaho. Dati na ko gaingon nga dili na siya magdawat og ana nga obligasyon pero iya man gyud na nga mag-ana siya so girespeto ko siya,” Olaivar added.
