The Bangsamoro Government has implemented a modified work schedule for its officials and employees as the holy month of Ramadan starts on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.
The flexible work period for the entire month of Ramadan is from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The flag raising rites will begin at 7 a.m. every Monday and the lowering of the flag is at 3:10 p.m. every Friday.
"There shall be no diminution of the 40-hour work-week required under the Civil Service Law and rules under these modified working hours," the Bangsamoro Government said.
Regular working hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. will resume after the Eid’l Fitr or the end of the observance of Ramadan.
The Islamic month of Ramadan is a time for spiritual growth and renewal, and a period of fasting, prayer, and reflection for the Muslim community.
"Ang Ramadan ay ika 9th na month sa Islam calendar, sa buwan ng Ramadan. We have five pillars of Islam isa doon ang pag-aayuno sa buwan ng Ramadan kaya napakahalaga sa amin ‘yon,” Mufti of Darul Ifta BARMM Representative Sheikh Ibrahim Andang Jr. said.
In Cotabato City, a Trade Fair will be conducted at the People’s Palace Grounds to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan.
Various products, culture, traditions, among others will be displayed and showcased at the Trade Fair.
In Zamboanga City, various Muslim delicacies called Iftar are being sold in stores in Barangay Suterville as Muslims prepare for the breaking of fast evening on March 12. These delicacies include Malaysian hotcakes, pangan, lara-lara, baolo, and lokot-lokot. These are made of flour, milk, orange juice, and sugar.
