DEVELOPING: Operations are ongoing to find three treasure hunters trapped inside a cave in Kadingilan, Bukidnon.

Police said the treasure hunters went inside the cave on Sunday, March 10, 2024, without permit.

According to survivors’ accounts, they struck something in the cave that emitted thick smoke, which reportedly suffocated their companions.

Four managed to come out but one died.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) launched a rescue and retrieval operation and retrieved the body of a 21-year-old man on Monday, March 11, 2024.

Three others are still trapped in the cave, as of this writing.

“Wala pa nakuha ang uban,” Police Regional Office (PRO)-10 spokesperson, Major Joann Navarro, said.

Those who managed to come out were taken to the hospital for immediate medical attention. It was found that they suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning.
