A member of the LGBTQ community in Cebu City complained against a taxicab driver for alleged lascivious act while she was taking a ride bound for home.
Alias “Crista,” a student who identifies herself as a transgender, has put the incident on video.
The driver, reportedly a senior citizen, complimented of her appearance which she responded to with appreciation. But when the driver reportedly began touching her thigh, she decided to put the advances on video.
“Nigahi man ni, usa pa kadiyot beh, diri o ngitngit bitaw diri, dili maklaro,” the taxi driver said as heard in the video which allegedly referred to his stiff manhood and suggested that the transwoman fondle it.
Alias “Crista” said that when she reached her destination, the driver pulled over in a dimly lit part of the road and moved to show in full his genitals and again asked "Crista" to hold it.
“Gahi-a ani basta kahikap og paa (ang tigas basta makahipo ng hitâ),” the driver said to mean his manhood is stimulated as he gets to touch supple thighs).
Alias “Crista” said she asked for her loose change. But again the driver insisted that she first fondle his genitals. As soon as she got her change, she said, she jumped out of the taxi and ran away.
“Niingon ko niya kuha-i sa na ang akong plete unya sukli-i ko, kay dili man ko niya sukli-an kay iya sa ko paugay-ugayon sa iyaha, paghatag niya sa sukli, nikaratil kog gawas, dagan dayon ko (Sabi ko sa kanya, ito na ang bayad ko, yung sukli ko lang, hindi ibinigay agad ang sukli dahil gusto nya himas-himasin ko yung ari nya. Pagbigay ng sukli, bumaba ako at kumaripas ng takbo),” she said.
To warn the public against nasty taxi drivers, alias "Crista" posted her experience on her social media account but while there were those who sympathized with her, there were also those who gave her a bashing.
She said netizens should not have judged her for her gender preference.
“Kung batan-on pa to nga gwapo, imo gyud to i-pursue,” alias "Crista" mentioned of a post and answered “dili man kamo na-a sa akong sitwasyon, wa mo kaila nako. What if dili nako nahitabo, what if sa inyong igsoon? (Kung bata yun, papatulan mo. Hindi kayo ang nasa sitwasyon ko, hindi ninyo ako kilala. What if hindi sa akin nangyari, what if sa kapatid nyo?)," she stressed.
She pointed out that regardless of gender preference, passengers deserve respect and courtesy from drivers.
The family of the senior citizen-driver already apologized to her, however she is determined to file a complaint at the Land Transportation Office 7 and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board 7.
According to LTO 7, they will conduct an investigation on the incident and will wait for the formal complaint to be filed by the victim.
“Pwede ra kadtong iyang video nga nakuha kay wala man ma-locate ang plate number ug body number, pwede ang iyaha mang testimonya sa complainant then ato pud hatagan og chance nga maka-explain pud ang driver (Pwede yung video na nakuhanan niya. Dahil walang na-locate na plate at body number, pwede yung testimonya ng complainant then bibigyan din natin ng chance ang driver na mag-explain),” LTO 7 Director Glenn Galario said.
As for LTFRB-7 it will summon not just the taxi driver but the operator as well.
“Grave offense ni siya. Ang operator duna nay responsibility. Nganong gikuha ang ingon ana nga klase sa driver. Dili pwede nga driver ra ang sad-an (Grave offense ito. May responsibility ang operator. Bakit sila kumuha ng ganitong klaseng driver. Hindi pwedeng ang driver lang ang may kasalanan),” LTFRB 7 Director Eduardo Montealto pointed out.
