A cyclist in Camarines Sur died after he was thrown off his bicycle when he lost control of the bike as he was navigating a curved portion of a slope in Barangay Dalupaon in Pasacao.

The cyclist was heading home at that time.

Eyewitnesses said the cyclist was speeding downhill and met the accident as he was navigating a curved portion of the road. He was reportedly thrown off about five meters away from his bicycle.

“Pauli po daa digdi sa Dalupaon. Ngunyan, nawaraan daa ning preno, naka-bike. Siguro, na-out of control na siya kaya nag-semplang na siya duman sa pakurbadang pababa kang Dalupaon. [Sabi kasu] nakahiling, marabason si dalagan kaitong siklista," Alvin Rodriguez, a barangay councilman, said.

Rodriguez said multiple accidents have occurred in the area, which was why the barangay has called on the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to install warning signs there.

The Pasacao Philippine National Police (PNP) will also investigate the incident to identify other safety concerns.

For now, authorities advised cyclists to avoid the area.
