A whirlwind called dust devil by state weather bureau PAGASA hit a public market in Makilala, Cotabato.

Vendors at the Makilala Public Market were forced to close their stores when the whirlwind was seen spinning across the ground. A few minutes later, the tarpaulin sheets that provided shade to the stores were damaged.

Agricultural products were also scattered on the ground.

According to the Makilala Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), no one was hurt in the incident.

PAGASA said the dust devil is formed when strong winds carry a huge amount of dust in the absence of thunderstorm clouds during hot weather.

Dust devil also hit a school in Pikit, Cotabato last March 7, 2024. No one was reported hurt in the incident.
