Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte has said that local political groups Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod and Hugpong ng Pagbabago have started discussing plans for the 2025 midterm and Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.
Duterte said the Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod, the lead local group in Davao City, has started laying down its preparations for the 2025 national and local polls, which will be backed by the Hugpong ng Pagbabago.
She said the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), the political party chaired by former President Rodrigo Duterte, would also like to join in the discussions.
Sara added she does not have a new national party yet after she resigned as member and chairperson of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) last May 2023.
“Sa pagkakaron, wala koy national political party. I’m single and ready to mingle,” Sara said.
Meanwhile, the country’s second top official extended her support to the law signed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., which prohibits private and public schools from implementing ‘No permit, No exam’ policy.
Dinhi sa atoa sa Dept. of Education, libre man tanan ang pag eskwela,” Duterte said.
