Schools in Zamboanga City may implement flexible learning once the hot weather already affects the learning of students, the Department of Education (DepEd) in Zamboanga City said.
DepEd-Zamboanga City School Governance and Operations Division OIC Chief Basilio Uy said school heads may suspend face-to-face classes and implement distance learning as the agency looks after the health of the students and school personnel.
“If there’s a need to call, ang mga school heads na mag-suspend sila og face to face, ipahigayon ang distance learning. So allowed kita sa office kasi we are also gearing the health of the learners, lakip sab sa atong mga school personnel,” Uy said.
In Tetuan Central School, the administration ensures that classrooms are well-ventilated to protect students and personnel from heat exhaustion.
“We have electric fans, well ventilated. Kadtung bagaun nga kurtina ayaw na lang to so that the air can still flow inside the classroom,” School Principal, Dr. Edsel Francisco, said.
The Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) also said schools that are experiencing water shortage may coordinate with their office for water rationing schedule.
“All they do is magsulat po sa Zamboanga City Water District para pwede po natin madeliver ng delivery tanks natin para madeliver ng water sa mga areas nila,” ZCWD OIC Customers Relation and External Affairs Secretary Raul Ruben Rivera Jr.
