The Matnog Port in Sorsogon is gearing up for the influx of travelers during the Holy Week, with numbers projected to reach as high as 10,000 per day.

According to the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) - Matnog, the situation at the port is normal as of March 20, 2024, but they anticipate accommodating at least 5,000 to 10,000 passengers daily, along with 800 to 1,000 rolling cargoes, during the Holy Week.

To ensure the safe passage of passengers, coordination efforts are underway between various government agencies, including the provincial government, Philippine Coast Guard, Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), Philippine National Police (PNP), Land Transportation Office (LTO), and shipping lines.

“Ngayon nga po ay patuloy na ‘yung maigtig na pagpapatupad ng panseguridad na mga protocols [at] mga safety and security protocols natin dito sa pantalan. Naka heightened alert na rin po tayo," Achilles Galindes of the PPA - Matnog stated, said.
