A boat transporting cement capsized off Barangay Paghuliran in Matnog, Sorsogon.
Authorities are looking at overloading as a possible cause of the incident. The cement was for a construction project in the coastal barangay of Mambajog.
“Tumaob kasi di na kaya yung bigat ng semento, eh parang na ano sila, na-overload po," Jay Gallano from MDRRMO Matnog, said.
Two men on board were rescued by personnel of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), Coast Guard, and Bantay Dagat.
"Tumawag yung kanilang kasamahan [na nasa] isang bangka rin, kasi tatlong bangka sila na magkakasunod," Gallano said.
As of this writing, the extent of damage is still being assessed.
