A house fire in Barangay Buenlag, Binmaley, Pangasinan resulted in the death of one person, and left three others injured.
Authorities reported that the victim was trapped inside the burning house.
The three individuals injured were taken immediately to the hospital.
"Sa ngayon under investigation kung ano ‘yung sitwasyon ng fatality natin. Yung bahay ay gawa sa light materials kaya madaling kumalat ang sunog," FO1 Denissa Vinluan, Public Information Officer of Binmaley Fire Station, said.
The fire lasted for almost an hour, and residents in the area assisted in extinguishing the flames to prevent further damage to nearby homes.
The incident marks the second fire-related death in the town in March.
MITIGATE RISKS
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) advised homeowners to check electrical lines and unplug unused appliances to reduce the risk of fire.
In Penarada, Nueva Ecija, schools are conducting comprehensive fire safety drills to prepare for potential emergencies.
Students and teachers are being trained in the proper use of fire extinguishers.
The BFP said that each classroom should have a fire extinguisher.
"Syempre kapag oras na may sunog na at nag-panic ka at hindi mo alam ang gagawin mo kahit may fire extinguisher, wala silang magagawa kung hindi mo alam gamitin," SFO1 Cristobal Jay Castro, Emergency Medical Services Chief of Penarada Fire Station, said.
The BFP hopes that the fire safety drills will help mitigate fire incidents during the hot summer months.
