A 28-year-old man in Lemery, Batangas was shot dead when he allegedly resisted arrest and fired shots at cops serving a warrant against him.

Investigation showed that even before the policemen could reach the suspect’s house, the suspect allegedly fired shots at them first, prompting the cops to fire back.

The exchange of fire reportedly continued as the man went into his house and it was there that a bullet hit him. He sustained gunshot wounds to the leg and chest and did not make it to the hospital alive.

Ronie Siriban, the chief of the Lemery Police Station, said.

The cops were serving an arrest warrant issued by the Manila Police District-Intelligence Operation Unit for robbery against the man for robbery.

The man was from Pasig City and was reportedly living in the house in Barangay Matingain 1 in Lemery with his live-in partner.

A .45 caliber handgun was recovered from the house after the incident.

Some members of the police team also sustained minor injuries during the operation.

The investigation into the incident continues, as of this writing.
