A senior high school student in Naga City, Camarines Sur was found in possession of marijuana leaves rolled in paper.

According to PLTCOL. Chester Pomar, Public Information Officer of the Naga City Police Office, it was the teacher who found the marijuana during a routine inspection against cheat sheets. The teacher found the marijuana, instead.

Ang purpose niya is kodigo, titingnan niya sana. However, during the inspection sa isang estudyante niya, may nabuksan na alleged marijuana," Pomar said.

The school reached out to authorities immediately. The investigation will look into how and where the student got the marijuana, among others.

Sulpicio Alferez III, the Principal of Camarines Sur National High School, Alferez called on parents to always check their children’s belongings, especially that the school can only do so much.

The law prohibits inspection of students' belongings without their consent to protect their privacy.

Inspections, he explained, should involve students presenting their belongings voluntarily. Bag searches like when entering the school premises, for example, should have the students’ consent.

The school assured that measures are in place to protect students from potential harm, including illegal activities.
