A man in Pili, Camarines Sur died after a man he had an argument with hit him with a machete in the nape. 

According to authorities, alcohol may have triggered the misunderstanding that led to the confrontation between the 43-year-old victim and the 70-year-old suspect. 

It was allegedly the victim who attacked the suspect first by punching him and the suspect was forced to defend himself with the machete he was bringing. He pulled the machete out and the victim was hit in the nape.

"Sinugod yung suspect at pinagsusuntok siya, dahil itong suspect natin eh matanda na rin napiritan siyang idepensa yung kanyang sarili at nagamit yung itak na dala-dala niya,” PCapt. Elias Sta. Cruz Jr., the Operations Officer of Pili Municipal Police Station, said.

The suspect is in police custody. 

The victim’s family who is left in shock is reportedly bent on filing charges.

"Apat na anak niya, tapos ang asawa pa niya nasa ibang bansa nagtatrabaho para lang mabuhay ang [mga] anak niya ngayon bigla na lang papatayin ng tao na yun," the victim's brother-in-law, said.

"Kung magfi-file po ng kaso yung pamilya ng biktima, maifi-file po nating kaso is homicide, kasi apparently naman nagkaroon ng commotion," Sta. Cruz said.
