A man was punched and struck with a wooden club while in an act of penitence in front of a church in Barangay Cayapa 2, Angeles City, Pampanga.

The victim was identified as Christian Ivan Pintoy, 24.

The two suspects were identified as the victim's cousins.

After being assaulted, Pintoy began to feel dizzy and weak and was immediately rushed to the hospital by his family who were present at that time.

“Sobrang putla na po niya. [Nung] papunta na po kami sa ONA, nag seizure po siya. [Sa ngayon], okay na po siya, baka lalabas na po sabi ng doktor, buti na lang daw po doon sa CT scan, walang fracture [o] yung bleeding sa loob,” Maia Pintoy, the victim's sister, said.

One of two suspects surrendered to the barangay and police authorities. He is facing charges of frustrated homicide.

Based on investigation, the attack may be rooted in family or personal dispute.

“Hindi po masyadong malinaw yung dahilan po niya pero parang personal po yung galit," Police Master Sergeant Arvie Mateo, the investigator on the case at Angeles City PNP Station 3, said.

The victim's family has called for the other suspect to also surrender.
