A 10-year-old boy died while his 17-year-old companion was injured seriously after they were run over by the truck they rammed into in Barangay Pasonanca, Zamboanga City.

CCTV footage from a store showed the two minors on board a motorcycle without helmets crash into the truck that was transporting a bamboo cottage.

The video also captured the truck running over the two boys after the crash.

Police said the motorcycle was running at high speed until the driver, the 17-year-old boy, allegedly lost control of the motorcycle, which led to the crash.

“Ang sabi ng pamilya, nagta-trabaho daw yun sila sa nagba-barbeque sa taas, almost every day yun nagpapabili ng ice sa kanila kaya nagmo-motor sila. Sila yung bumangga sa truck,” Zamboanga City Police Station 7 Investigator, Master Sergeant Michael Avenido, said.

The truck driver will no longer face charges as the victims’ family agreed that he would shoulder the hospital and burial expenses.

Authorities reminded parents not to allow their minor children to drive a motorcycle.

“Pangaralan ang mga anak, huwag pabayaan. Huwag ipa-motor kung anak nila minor. Huwag hayaan,” Avenido said.
