A 22-year-old woman was stabbed to death outside a fast food restaurant on Quimpo Boulevard in Davao City where she was waiting for her husband who was buying medicine.
Police said the victim was stabbed by the suspect twice in the neck. The suspect fled right after on board a motorcycle.
The couple and their one-year-old daughter came from Asuncion, Davao del Norte and were supposed to go to Digos City for a vacation. They decided to make a stop in Davao City as there was no available trip for Digos City.
The woman reportedly experienced a stomachache, which was why her husband went to the pharmacy to buy medicine.
The husband said his wife had a rival in the online selling business.
“Sa online selling ra man to ma'am, naa siya kalaban,” he said.
Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Director, Colonel Richard Bag-ang, went to the crime scene on Monday, April 1, 2024, the day after the incident.
Bad-ang said police are already checking the CCTV camera in the area to identify the perpetrator.
Investigators are looking into business rivalry as possible motive.
“Magkuha tag CCTV diri aron makita nato ang gisakyan sa suspek. Tingnan mo malapit pa ang station natin, harap ng famous fast food chain maraming establishment, daanan bigla na lang may sasaksakin sa gilid talagang malakas ng loob ng tumira,” Bad-ang said.
