In-person classes at an elementary school in Barangay Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro have been suspended after 21 students experienced nosebleed due to the sweltering heat.

The administration of the East City Central School and the Department of Education (DepEd) granted the recommendation of the barangay council to suspend face-to-face classes due to extreme heat.

Lapasan National High School also suspended face-to-face classes.

Modular learning mode will be implemented from April 5 to April 12, 2024.

“We are very thankful. We express our gratitude to both institutions, Lapasan National High School and East City Central School for being proactive,” Barangay Lapasan Spokesperson Jeoffrey Baconga said.

The school principal said face-to-face classes may resume once the weather improves, depending on the assessment of the DepEd.
