Fire disrupted what could have been a day of rest for residents of Toledo City in Cebu and in Davao City on Sunday, April 7, 2024.
At least 15 houses were razed by fire in Toledo City while 30 houses were razed at two residential areas in Davao City.
In Toledo City, the fire broke out past midday and was raised to second alarm. Authorities had a difficult time accessing the area in Barangay Lura 1 due to narrow roads.
Other firefighters and trucks had also just come from responding to a grass fire in another barangay at that time.
The fire was put out at 2:30 p.m. Damage is pegged at P1.8 million.
In Davao City, a fire that broke out at 1 p.m. in Purok 26, Muslim Village, Times Beach razed 20 houses. According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-11, the fire was caused by electrical overload.
Hours later at 5:30 p.m., another fire broke out, this time, in Purok 4, Bucana Seawall where 10 houses were razed. An electric fan that remained plugged reportedly caused the fire.
