A forest fire broke out in the mountains of Barangay Laoag, Aguilar, Pangasinan on April 6, 2024, in the afternoon.
According to FInsp. Jonathan de Vera, the Fire Marshal of the Aguilar Fire Station, the area was hard to reach because of the absence of established roads. The area is also far.
Aside from Barangay Laoag, fires also occurred in the mountainous areas of the neighboring barangays of Manlocboc in Aguilar and Salomague Sur in Bugallon.
No houses were affected.
The fire subsided a day after and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) continues to monitor the situation as of this writing.
Authorities are still assessing the extent of damage and investigating other possible causes aside from the prevailing hot weather.
De Vera said incidents of forest fires at the mountain occur annually during the dry season.
