Instead of face-to-face classes, schools in Western Visayas have conducted asynchronous or distance learning following an advisory issued by the Department of Education (DepEd).

DepEd 6 called on parents and guardians to guide their children at home who are observing alternative delivery mode.

According to DepEd, it is one of their objectives that students complete their assignments, projects, and other requirements despite the workload brought about by the suspension of in-person classes due to high heat index.

In-person classes in public schools have been suspended nationwide based on a DepEd advisory.

Teachers and non-teaching personnel were not required as well to report to school on April 8, 2024.

However, the announcement does not include private schools. Discretion on suspension of face-to-face classes in private schools and switching to alternative learning modalities lies with the management of private schools.
